Hi. Today I'll be reviewing one of my favorites: Spider-Man Noir 2 of 4. New York City December, 1932 crime, corruption, practically every man in power in New York is on the so-called "Goblin's" or Norman Osborn's pay roll. Benjamin Urich photographer and journalist for the Daily Bugle accompanied by his young assistant Peter Parker, at the seen of a fire. He and Peter were taking photographs of the scene and captured a few suspicious photos. They had spotted a man at the scene of the fire called Fancy Dan, a man well known to be on the Goblin's pay roll. Peter suspects the fire might be arson just to help the landlords get a fat paycheck from the insurance company. Peter wants justice brought to the men who did this.

Ben knows it very dangerous to try and blackmail the goblin so all he could do is mock his words. So as usual he has Peter take the regular photographs to the Bugle. Now this part of the story is very confusing and takes a few times before you finally get it. As Peter comes into the apartment to tell Ben they made the late edition he see's Ben on his armchair drooling. Peter picks up a needle Ben's probably been drugged.
At this point in the story I thought he had been killed then went over it a few times and it finally made sense. Then he gets a anonymous phone call from someone. In the comic the has a similar appearance to Ben making me even more confused. Peter answers the phone. The man called Peter "Spider," probably implying Ben. Peter, suspicious, pretends he's Ben. The man tells him that the "action's" going down at one o'clock in the morning at the Rooney imports warehouse on Pier 57. And that a shipment of art went astray on its journey to the Metropolitan museum. He also tells Peter there is 40 dollars in it if shows up. Peter decidedly goes to the down to the warehouse to snoop around. He finds some of the Goblin's goons carrying out some antiques. One of them was a spider-like statue. He overhears the men talking about an article in the bugle about it saying if you should touch it you would die. The other men mocked him in disbelief. Then the men had accidentally dropped the Creight where one man touches the statue.

Moments later spider burst out of the statue and crawled all over the man yelling. As the other man did nothing he had then died. One spider got on Peters hand and it bit him. Peter soon saw the world crumbling around him. Next he was on what appeared to be a spiderweb. He was cornered by what appeared to be a giant spider. The spider talked of how he only kills people of evil intent and how he would bestow an even greater curse of power. Moments later Peter awoke hanging by a giant spiderweb. The men where long gone. peter untangles himself and falls down and surprisingly land it. After a few jumps and spins Peter realizes he had been given astonishing power.
The comic shifts back to Urich's point of view. He has come to the Osborn penthouse in downtown Manhattan. He comes up to Osborn's desk and blackmails him with the photo of Fancy Dan. Osborn denies this and says he is no longer on his payroll ,but merciful he pays him fifty bucks and sends him off with a warning. Then a masked masked man (Peter) smashes through the window. Osborn orders his goon to shoot him but before he could Peter slung a web that tangled him. Peter threatens Osborn to stop all illegal activities ,but Osborn calls his bluff. Then Peter notices the photo Urich took at the scene of the fire then looks towards the door and sees him with the money Osborn paid him. Urich ran outside but Peter caught him and confronted him about the error of his ways. Suddenly Urich realizes the masked man is Peter.
Peter runs off without letting him explain. This part in the story however is my favorite because it comes with a unexpected twist. As the masked man ran off Osborn and his men tried to shoot him ,but Peter was too quick. As Peter got away Osborn offers Urich a job to find out who the masked man is for double the pay. Urich disgusted denies his offer and throws the money that Osborn paid him into the snow. Osborn now seeing Urich as a potential threat makes sure Urich won't be for long. Next you see Urich at his apartment on the phone trying to get through too JJ. As Jonah answers Urich tells him about all the evidence he's gathered to put Osborn behind bars. JJ tells him to stay off the streets and let him come over to have a look at it. Urich finally feeling pride for the first time toasts to himself in the mirror.
Then there was a knock at the door as he opened it Urich was shot. Now the story shifts back over to Peter as he thinks to himself about Uncle Ben in the war. He looks at his Uncle's medals from the war. He takes his Uncles uniform and starts stitching it. The story shifts back over to Urich's place. This very part in the story is the most shocking of all. You see Jonah over the phone proclaiming the spider dead. The last part in the comic you see Peter suited up as Spider-man Noir.

This comic wasn't bad it had some particular flaws like it was too shifty. It went back and forth between views which was really confusing. Pg. 5 was particularly confusing when Peter got the anonymous tip from the man that looked like Ben. On pg. 8-9 it didn't really explain what happened to Peter as he got bit ,but there were also good things about the comic. I like how it appealed to a darker side of Spider-man. I like the twists and turns it took you through. And most of all the story however stitched together is still very good.
I give this comic a 6 out of 10.
