The Avengers #7

I hadn't any high expectations when I walked in to my local comic shop "Nerd World Emporium." I was to get just two comics that would hopefully last me a little while. I came across a few flashy covers and decided I'd pick The Avengers #7 and Captain America: Man Out of Time (which I'll be reviewing later). I'd decided in the car to read Avengers #7 because I knew Captain America would be nostalgic and a "remember him" comic. So I decided to flip through the Avengers #7.

It begins on a snowy mountain top near the ruins of the Inhuman City of Attilan. There was a group of people escorting a man to the city. He had a very pragmatic-type personality. He basically used them to get there and then did away with them. After searching, the man came upon what he was looking for: An infinity gem. The text never really tells you the name of this "colorful" individual.

Now we shift over to Wonder Man where Iron Man and Thor arrive. Recently, Simon has taken an Anti-Avengers stance. Simon demands they shut down the Avengers because they are "doing more harm than good." After further arguing, Iron Man and Thor took off. So far the comic has been shall we say a "fast read." We return to the unknown man now in the Baxter Building also known as the home of the Fantastic four. He (with the power of the yellow infinity gem) commands Reed Richards to stay asleep and that the alarms stay off. Ben Grimm then walks in and, seeing him, the unknown man pummels him to the ground. He walks in to a secret room where he then takes the red infinity gem. He mistakenly winds up in a desert. Then the Red Hulk lands on the ground. The unknown man lands a powerful punch to Rulk.

We transition over to the Avengers' tower, where the Avengers seem to be having a casual meeting with their newest member, Noh-Yarr, who introduces his girlfriend Annie. After a few meet and greets the Avengers get a surprise visit from Rulk. Crashing through the side of the building Rulk speaks one word: "Infinity."

This comic could be better. It was a fast read, and I feel as if they could have put a little more time and effort into the story. It isn't confusing so much as it is missing a few parts - like where did Rulk come from? Who was the man with the infinity stones? What was wrong with Wonder Man? I'm not sure whether I need to go back and read the other six to understand it all.

However, it did have a lighter tone that I haven't seen in a while from Marvel as if it were the Golden Age again. Although missing a few parts, it was still understandable. All and all an OK read.

I give this comic 5/10.

December Review Schedule

Hi again! its a new month so I wanted to show you the schedule for the first half of the month. The First review which will come out today or tomorrow will be Avengers 7. That's going to be fun!

Next up will be Captain America: Man out of Time which is a Limited Series (only five). I think this one will be more of a "nostalgia" comic. I'll do maybe a few surprise reviews in between or pop quizzes, as I like to call them.

These next two weeks are going to have the first ever video post from my room. I'm so excited! Now, I just want to remind you guys that anyone is still welcome to join the club and become an author of this blog.
